Regent Seven Seas enhances onboard entertainment

Regent Seven Seas will begin a new entertainment program this May. Changes include the introduction of the Regent Signature Orchestra, a nine-piece band, a new late-night cabaret, and five new production shows.

In my experience, the smaller the ship, the worse the entertainment. It’s just not possible to put on a large-scale show in a small-scale lounge, and more intimate ships just aren’t into spectacle the way mega-ships are. So I was very interested to see what Regent Seven Seas had planned when it announced new entertainment programming on all of its ships beginning this May.

The first change is the introduction of the Regent Signature Orchestra, a nine-piece band that will accompany musical productions and break into smaller groups to perform intimate concerts during afternoon tea or late-night cocktails.

The three ships will also begin a new late-night cabaret show and five new production shows. The shows include a Vegas-style revue, a tribute to Motown, a production of the hit musical “They’re Playing Our Song,” a tribute to jazz legends, and a ballroom-dance performance. Guests can also expect different headline entertainers on each sailing.

The concept for Regent’s new entertainment program sounds great. I only hope they’ve taken the size of their theaters and the skill of their cast members into account during their planning. If they have, guests should have a lot to look forward to after dinner. If not, well, there’s always a bar somewhere.
