Product Review: UV Skinz UPF 50+ Clothing

Clothing that shields your skin from the sun, no sunscreen required.

What Is it: The UV Skinz sun protection clothing line.

Price and Where to Buy: We tested the Women’s Ruched Tank Top ($46.95), and the Halter Dress ($59.95), but other styles and clothing for men and children are also available.

Pros:

  • Provides UPF 50 protection (UPF is used like SPF for clothing)
  • Sun protection doesn’t wash out or expire
  • Keeps your skin safe without messy, oily sunscreens
  • Quick-drying fabric is perfect for the beach
  • Options for swimming and resort wear
  • Comfortable

Cons:

  • The prices can be a bit high, but when you think about how much you spend on sunscreen, it makes sense.

How it Rates:

  • Usefulness: 10/10. Sunscreen is great, but washes off easily and can be hard to apply, especially if you’re traveling alone (as anyone who has ever gotten a painful sunburn in a spot that they missed with sunscreen can attest to.) The UV Skinz line keeps you protected while you swim or when you’re just walking around town.
  • Value: 10/10. Prices range throughout the line, but when you consider how expensive sunscreen can be, the re-wearable clothing is worth it.
  • Durability: 10/10. The clothes are made from chlorine and salt water resistant fabric, so you can bring them to the beach/pool without worry.
  • Cool Factor: 10/10. The line offers everything from hats and swimshirts to halter dresses, in styles and colors that will suit everyone.
  • Final Verdict: The UV Skinz line was started after the founder lost her 32-year old husband to skin cancer. Sun protection is life-saving—play it safe by wearing the UV Skinz line.
