Mobile booking apps are considered a must-have by airline and hotel marketers, who are convinced that they’re the future of travel buying, or at least a big part of it.
While there’s surely a place for mobile booking, I’m skeptical that it will ever become the majority choice. Tiny cellphone screens simply don’t lend themselves to viewing the spreadsheet-format displays that lend themselves to comparison shopping.
Nevertheless, considerable resources continue to be invested in developing new and improved booking apps; and travel suppliers continue to offer incentives to encourage customers to download and use the apps, like this latest offer from Hyatt.
Hyatt Gold Passport members can earn a one-time 500-point bonus for stays booked via the Hyatt mobile app and consumed by November 30.
Registration is not required; the bonus will be awarded automatically for qualifying stays.

The bonus is combinable with Hyatt’s fall bonus promotion, in effect during the same period.
Deal or No Deal
A modest bonus, to be sure. But for Hyatt customers, it’s an easy one to earn, especially if they already have the Hyatt app on their smartphones. And if they don’t yet have it, they probably should. Just in case.
