Hilton’s systemwide offer for the first quarter of 2016 is the same as its spring offer, which was extended through summer: double points or airline miles.
What sets this apart from that earlier offer is the participation of all properties in the Hilton network. In recent Hilton promotions, many hotels have opted not to participate, forcing travelers to consult long lists of no-bonus hotels to determine whether a prospective stay would or would not earn extra points. The policy was criticized loudly and roundly, and the griping apparently had the desired effect.
Between January 1 and April 30, 2016, Hilton HHonors members can earn either double points or double airline miles for stays at any Hilton hotel.
When registering, HHonors members will have to opt to receive either points or miles; the choice will remain in effect for the duration of the promotion. Per Hilton: “Choose wisely because your selection cannot be changed!”
Deal or No Deal
Double points or miles? The best that can be said of this offer is that it’s refreshingly straightforward. Every stay counts, at every HHonors hotel, for a full four months, and there are no day-of-the-week restrictions. But it hardly qualifies as a high-value bonus.
For Hilton loyalists, this offer may be just enough to keep them in the fold. For others, more compelling hotel bonuses for 2016 may be in the pipeline. Stay tuned.
