Although Delta has a special marketing relationship with Starwood, it’s not an exclusive arrangement. This joint promotion with Hilton is a repeat of similar bonuses offered in past years.
Through December 31, Hilton HHonors members can earn double miles plus 250 elite-qualifying miles for every stay of two or more nights at Hilton family hotels. (At Home2 Suites properties, the bonus is 100 miles per stay, plus 250 elite miles.)
A maximum of 10,000 elite-qualifying miles may be earned through this promotion.
Registration is required.
Deal or No Deal
For those who prefer to earn airline miles instead of HHonors points for their stays, there’s a lot to like about this offer.
The double miles are nice, but it’s the addition of the elite-qualifying miles that gives the promotion extra oomph. (Remember: You’ll still have to meet Delta’s minimum-spend requirements to earn elite status.) The fact that all Hiltons are participating is a plus as well.
The big question concerns the type of airline miles on offer. Since SkyMiles’ transition to a revenue-based scheme, the program’s value for many travelers has significantly declined. It’s harder to earn miles; and in many cases, it’s both more expensive and more difficult to redeem them for award flights.
So, if SkyMiles works for you, this promotion will too. Otherwise, not.
