Daytrip – Santorini, Crete Island, Greece

The island of Crete is one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean for tourism. There are breathtaking views thanks to the natural beauty of the island. The interests of any history buff can be satisfied on this island too, thanks to the ancient ruins that can be found all over the island. One popular activity while in Crete is to take a day trip to Santorini. Here are some tips to get the most out of that trip.

A One Day Cruise

You can book a cruise from the island of Crete to Santorini. Including in the price of admission is breakfast and dinner, so you don’t go hungry during the trip. There is a version of the trip you can book that doesn’t include dinner that costs a little bit less. The trip is five hours there and five hours back and you get five hours to explore the island while you are there. There are extra day excursions that you can book during the course of the cruise. The island is very small, so you can see most of what it has to offer in just one day. Some people choose to hang out longer and enjoy the beach, though.

Go in the Winter

The islands of Greece can get extremely hot during the summer. This is why it is advised that you visit Santorini during other times of the year to get the best experience out of it. Most of the attractions on the island are outside and there isn’t a lot of shade to protect you from the sun. Book the tour as soon as you can when you get to Crete as it is a very popular activity and it could be sold out.
