Best Leggings for Travel 2016

When it comes to comfortable and versatile travel pants, it doesn’t get much better than leggings. They’re easy to pull on, lightweight, stretchy, multi-seasonal, and go with almost everything. But not all leggings are created equal.

Leggings for Travel

From secret pockets to corduroy look-alikes, here are the best leggings for travel.

Clever Travel Companion Leggings

[st_content_ad]Take the Clever Travel Companion Leggings on vacation and they’ll become one of your most-worn items. Ideal for wearing through airport security, these leggings make it easy to access all of your travel essentials because their two hidden front pockets are big enough to hold a passport, cash, and credit cards. Made from cotton, modal, and spandex, these high-quality, classic black leggings are perfect for travel year-round.

HUE Essential Denim Leggings

Want to look like you’re wearing jeans without having bulky denim weighing down your carry-on? With the Essential Denim Leggings by HUE, you’ll have the best of both worlds. These jean-resembling leggings are machine-washable and are made from cotton, polyester, and spandex, so they’re super stretchy and easy to fold. Versatile and equipped with functional back pockets, this pair will be a staple item in your wardrobe on every trip.

90 Degree By Reflex High Waist Power Flex Leggings with Tummy Control

Looking for leggings that also function as shapewear? Try the High Waist Power Flex Leggings with Tummy Control from 90 Degree By Reflex. This pair comes with a wide, high-rise waistband that sits comfortably at your mid section, giving you fuller coverage and a flattering, slim-fit look. Customers rave about the high-quality, thick material—which is polyester and spandex—and say these leggings are great for working out in and for everyday wear. Additionally, they have a small front pocket at the waist.

Baleaf Yoga Workout Leggings with Side Pockets

If you enjoy staying active on vacation—whether that means going for your daily morning run or exploring a new city on foot—you’ll love Baleaf’s Yoga Workout Leggings. Made from nylon, polyester, and spandex, these ultra-stretchy, quick-drying, comfortable bottoms are equipped with side pockets large enough to fit your cell phone, credit cards, and keys; and are available in full-length and capris.

HUE Medium Wale Cord Leggings

Looking for a dressier option than leggings and jeans, but don’t want to sacrifice comfort? Try Hue’s Wale Cord Leggings, which pull on like regular leggings but look like stylish corduroy skinny jeans. Made from cotton, polyester, and spandex, these cords are praised by customers for their thick, velvety, non-shrink material, stretchy waist, and comfortable overall fit.

Stylish and versatile, these leggings look great when worn with heels and a blazer, or with boots and a fall jacket. They’re also warmer than most leggings, making them perfect for fall and winter travel.

RejuvaWear Leggings

If you’re taking a long flight, try RejuvaWear Leggings. Made from nylon, microfiber, and lycra, these bottoms act as shapewear around your mid section and thighs, and come with a four-inch waistband to give you a more slender look. They also have five to 20 mmHg of graduated compression to help reverse the feeling of tired, swollen, and sore legs that can result from excessive sitting or standing. For more information about RejuvaWear leggings, read our review.

Discover the Beauty of Big Sky Country in 60 Seconds

Big Sky Country is a special place. And there’s no better way to see it than along Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the Sun Road—the iconic 50-mile drive past snowcapped peaks, through dramatic U-shaped valleys, among towering spruce and cedar trees, and along massive deep turquoise-colored lakes. The iconic drive also takes you to the 6,646-foot Logan Pass along the Continental Divide.

The magic of Big Sky Country extends far beyond the park’s boundaries to Montana’s small lakeside mountain towns like Whitefish and Bigfork, where you can rub shoulders with locals at weekly farmer’s markets and performing arts shows, or pause for a drink at one of the many craft breweries and distilleries. You’ll also discover the living history of the West in Montana’s 18,500-acre National Bison Range— one of the oldest and largest wildlife sanctuaries in the country.

Planning ahead for next year? Consider this: June is northwest Montana’s secret season. Temperatures range from the low 60s to the upper 70s and there’s an equal balance of sunshine and clouds—perfect weather for outdoor pursuits. June is also the calm before the peak summer season—and for a road trip, that means having the wide open roads virtually all to yourself.

Want to see experience Big Sky Country for yourself? Here’s a 60-second video from my trip:

12 Things You Should Never Pack

[st_content_ad]Chances are, not every item in your suitcase needs to go with you on vacation. Lighten your load by casting off unnecessary extras. From hair dryers and toiletries to makeup bags and magazines, here are 12 things you should never pack.

Never Pack These Things

Books and Magazines

We’re not saying you shouldn’t enjoy a good read on vacation. But if you’ve got a Kindle or tablet, you can free up valuable space by leaving the paperback books and magazines at home. Electronic options are slim and lightweight, and allow you to load up more reading material than you could ever hope to finish on vacation.

A Different Outfit for Each Day

We all like having options, but almost no one needs an entirely new ensemble for each day of the trip. Packing this way is one of the quickest ways to run out of room in your luggage—and chances are, you won’t end up wearing half of what you brought.

For all but the longest trips, most people can get away with bringing three tops and three bottoms that are practical and comfortable, and that can be mixed and matched. If you’re worried about running out of clean outfits, plan on doing a load of laundry on the road, or simply hand wash a few items when you need to.

Excessive Amounts of Denim

Denim is ideal for travel because it’s versatile, long-lasting, and hides stains well. But, it’s also heavy and takes up a lot of space, even when folded tightly.

So pack your favorite pair of jeans, but stick to one or two pairs at most, and mix in lightweight bottoms like cotton or linen pants, leggings, jeggings, performance fabrics, or khakis.

Toiletries

Instead of bringing your entire toiletries bag, take advantage of the free stuff you can get at your hotel.

Most properties provide shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion, but that doesn’t mean that’€™s all they have in stock. Some hotels also have a supply of deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash, razors, shaving cream, feminine hygiene products, and even sewing kits. The secret is, you have to ask for it.

never pack

Your Makeup Bag

Chances are, you don’t use every item in your makeup bag regularly, so why take the whole thing?

Stick to the products you use on an everyday basis, and nothing more. Try limiting yourself to a cover-up, a blush or bronzer, an eyeliner pencil, minimal eye shadow, mascara, and a lip color. Or, consider one of these makeup kits, which come with a variety of cosmetics all in one travel-size palette.

never pack

Hair Styling Tools and Products

Leave your blow-dryer, straightener, curling iron, and large bottles of hair products at home—they eat up a ton of luggage space, and take over the bathroom once you’ve unpacked.

Most hotel rooms already have a hair dryer, and some properties are even offering hair straighteners now, too. Confirm this with the hotel in advance to avoid packing more than you need.

If your hotel doesn’t offer styling tools, invest in travel-size options, or, simply make do without—after all, it’s only temporary.

More Than 2 Devices

Unless you’re traveling for business, you can probably make do with just a smartphone. But if you’re considering packing other devices—such as an iPad, tablet, laptop, or Kindle—limit yourself to two at most. Here’s why: Overpacking gadgets leads to suboptimal vacations. Either you find yourself constantly distracted by your tech gear, or you end up not using most of what you packed. Choose wisely and preserve your vacation time and your packing space.

never pack

Expensive Accessories

You might want to look like a fashion icon on your next trip, but don’t be tempted to pack your nicest watch, jewelry, designer purse, and any other nonessential embellishments. Traveling with valuables will make you a prime target for pickpockets, and you’ll run the risk of losing or leaving the smaller accessories behind.

Food

It’s okay to bring a snack for the plane, but there’s no reason to stash excessive amounts of food in your luggage.

If your goal is to save money, plan on buying a few staple items, such as coffee, cereal, and milk, when you arrive. But in your effort to save, don’t miss out on the local delicacies of the destination you are visiting. After all, isn’t the food part of the vacation experience?

Sheets and Towels

Unless you’re going camping, don’t pack your own sheets and towels. Hotels, hostels, and vacation rentals nearly always provide them. And if for some reason yours doesn’t, consider it a sign that you should probably find a different place to stay.

never pack

Uncomfortable, Impractical Shoes

There’s nothing worse than suffering through a vacation in the wrong shoes, so choose them carefully.

Leave behind any footwear of questionable comfort—like high heels and ballet flats— and any that haven’t been broken in.

Only pack two or three of your most comfortable and versatile shoes—try bringing one good pair of walking sneakers, and one or two other pairs of supportive shoes that can be dressed up or down.

That “Just In Case” Gear

Avoid packing for situations that are unlikely to happen. For example, you don’t need to pack rain gear if you’re visiting somewhere dry, or a winter coat if you’€™re going to the tropics—you won’€™t end up using them. The same thing goes for anything you might do. If you aren’t a hiker, don’t bring hiking boots. Set realistic plans so you don’t end up packing unnecessary gear.
